Riverworks is partnering with Ex Fabula to host community storytelling activities that will focus on experiences from Harambee and Riverwest neighbors. We’ll be collecting stories in multiple formats and using them to celebrate our community and shape future plans for Kuumba Art Park. Please join us at the following activities, all. of which are free unless otherwise noted.

Saturday, October 3rd
UltraShort Booth
The Beerline Shuffle
UltraShorts (US) are brief, true, personal stories, written on slips of paper. Stop by the booth to read stories from neighbors and, if you like, submit your own! US can include names or be anonymous. Ex Fabula coaches will be available to assist.

Storytelling Workshop
Kuumba Juice & Coffee
In Ex Fabula workshops, Storytelling Coaches lead participants through interactive activities to help folks discover, structure, and share true personal stories – and deepen relationships with others. Coaches will also share information about how folks can tell their stories onstage at the Slam, if they want to. Workshops are open to all ages, but any participants under 13 should be accompanied by a grown-up. Join us at one or both sessions!

Community Story Slam
Location TBD
At this noncompetitive StorySlam, neighbors will share their true, personal stories about Riverwest and Harambee. Come just to listen, or share a story! One option is to submit a written UltraShort, which will be read by the emcee. Or, put your name in the hat for a chance to share a story onstage. Stories should be told without props or notes, and within the 5-minute time limit, and tellers must sign a waiver as we’ll be collecting audio of the stories.
